As health leaders emerge from the crucible of the pandemic, challenges remain in the form of staff wellbeing surgery backlogs, budget challenges and the ever-present threat of new variants of Covid-19.  Recognizing a need to develop leaders to address these challenges, NSW Health approached UNSW to design and delivery a Leader development program – Leading with Impact.

Our institute provides insights that help bring leadership to life. By surveying and interviewing program participants, as well as the teams the lead, we have developed a rich picture of leadership development priorities, cultural themes, and organisational challenges. The program targets learning activities on these needs, homing in on the issues that matter.

Further, this data is collected at three timepoints, enabling the tracking and verification of program impact. So far, the program has positively improved levels of psychological safety, increased innovation behavior, fostered deeper leader identity as well as promoting higher quality team interactions.
